Birthday surprise

Last year, for our friend’s birthday, her boyfriend surprised her with dinner at the French Laundry, a diamond ring, and a marriage proposal. We didn’t think he could possibly come up with a more extravagantly romantic gesture this year.
Perhaps we were wrong.
